As Pluto 5000's artist-in-residence for over three years, I’ve explored the profound parallels between crafting ceramics and advancing technological innovation. Both require risk, patience, and the courage to push boundaries into uncharted territory.

Each ceramic begins as raw clay—fragile yet full of possibility. By pushing its limits, crafting ultra-thin walls that teeter on the brink of collapse, we embrace the challenges of innovation: testing boundaries and daring to explore the unknown in search of breakthroughs.

Patience is essential. Rushing the drying process invites cracks, just as hastening technological advancements without thoughtful development weakens their potential. It’s in the tempering fires—both literal and metaphorical—that raw ideas transform into resilient, enduring creations. Yet balance is key; too much pressure risks irreparable fractures, reminding us that ambition must be guided with intention to sustain progress.

The glazing process mirrors the unpredictability of technological exploration. Layering colors and textures, then firing them into the unknown, often yields surprising results—sometimes stunning, sometimes flawed. Each outcome invites reflection, adjustment, and the perseverance to try again.
